Thompson Bros. Highland Single Malt 12 Year Old Peated Rum Cask Finish (70cl, 45.7%)

This is a peated Highland single malt of at least 12 years, selected and bottled by Phil and Simon Thompson of Thompson Bros. It is bottled at 45.7% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtration or added colour, in an edition of 895 bottles. After its main maturation it spent three years finishing in ex-rum casks, which add vanilla, caramel and tropical fruit to earthy peat smoke and spicy wood. The nose combines Highland smoke and earthy peat with vanilla, caramel and a little exotic fruit. On the palate, creamy caramel, spicy wood and sweet vanilla sit within soft smoke. The finish is long, with caramel sweetness, dry wood spice and lingering peat smoke.
