Thomson – 2017 8 Year Old New Zealand Single Malt Smoked Manuka Single Barrel #221 Berry Brothers & Rudd (70cl, 52.2%)

This is an 8 year old single barrel single malt from Thomson Distillery near Auckland, selected by Berry Bros & Rudd. It is bottled at 52.2% in a 70cl bottle. The malt is sourced locally and smoked over native Manuka wood rather than peat, which gives a fragrant, savoury smoke. On the nose, aromatic wood smoke, charred oak and smoked bacon are balanced by fresh lemongrass, golden honey and mellow malt sweetness.
