Tobermory – 2004 17 Years Old Oloroso Cask (70cl, 55.8%)

This is a 17 year old single malt from Tobermory, the Isle of Mull distillery. It was distilled on 8 June 2004, filled into Oloroso sherry casks, and bottled in 2021 at a cask strength of 55.8%. The casks were vatted together, and the release came to 11,124 bottles of 70cl. It is not chill-filtered and has no added colouring. The nose is rich in caramel and toffee, followed by almonds, blackcurrants and a hint of spice. The palate brings rose petals, tropical fruit, walnuts, cherry and creamy toffee, finishing with oak, tannin and a touch of leather. The finish is unusually dry and nutty, with a sharp ginger spice.
