This is a 23 year old Tobermory from the Isle of Mull, distilled in 1996 and bottled in 2019 at a cask strength of 58.7% ABV. It is a single malt from the Wilson & Morgan Barrel Selection, in a 70cl bottle.
A finish of four years in a second fill Hungarian Tokaji cask has added a new layer of complexity. The whisky stays bold and robust, with Tobermory's oily, earthy and vegetal character, and gains a touch of juicy fruit alongside it.
It is sweetened by honey, overripe apricots, raisins and dried plums, and it won a gold medal at the Milano Whisky Festival 2019.
