Tobermory – 26 Year Old Oloroso Cask Finish (Expression 4) (49.2%)

This is the fourth release in Tobermory's Hebridean Series, a single malt matured for 26 years and bottled at 49.2% ABV. It was finished in uncharred González Byass Oloroso sherry casks. The casks gave a darker, heavier sweetness than the distillery's younger expressions, with woodsmoke, caramelised sugar and treacle toffee alongside vanilla, cinnamon pastries and toasted malt. On the nose, dark brown sugar fades to fresh strawberries, vanilla fudge, candied ginger and dried sultanas. The palate is spicy and sweet, with walnuts and gentle oak, and the finish is woody, with chocolate-covered hazelnuts.
