Togouchi 18 Years (70cl, 43%)

Togouchi 18 Years is a Japanese blended whisky made from 40% malt and 60% grain whisky, bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It comes from Chugoku Jozo on the island of Honshu. The whisky matures for at least 18 years in oak casks, stored in a disused railway tunnel that keeps a constant 14°C. Sherry casks have a strong influence on its fruity, full character. The nose is delicate, with bitter chocolate and sweet vanilla, then fresh citrus and spice. Black pepper leads the palate, alongside apple, quince and blackcurrant, followed by sorrel and a dry, slightly bitter woody note. The finish brings some caramel and dark chocolate.
