Tomatin 12 Year is a Highland single malt from Tomatin Distillery, bottled at 43% in a 750ml bottle. It matured for twelve years in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels and ex-sherry casks.
The distillery ferments for roughly 160 to 168 hours in stainless steel washbacks, one of the longer fermentations in Scotland, and keeps its own cooperage on site.
The nose is fresh pine and light malt with butterscotch, crème caramel, heather and dried orange peel. The palate is buttery, with cooked apple, raisin, pear, praline, currant bun and stem ginger. The finish is medium in length, buttery and malty, with faint pepper, almond and mint.
