This is a single cask Highland single malt from Tomatin, matured in an Oloroso sherry cask and bottled at 57.3% in a 70cl bottle.
Master Distiller Graham Eunson selected the cask to mark the distillery's 125th anniversary. The sherry cask is of a kind similar to those that would have been in use in 1897, the year the distillery opened.
The nose starts soft before the Oloroso comes through, with coffee liqueur, flambéed orange, caramel and black walnut. Heavy sherry notes coat the palate, followed by oak spice, toffee and dark chocolate.
Tasting Notes
Soft at first, then Oloroso sherry, coffee liqueur, flambéed orange, caramel, black walnut, pipe tobacco and eucalyptus
Heavy sherry, European oak spice, toffee, dark chocolate, then liquorice and a hint of Assam tea
Deep, with brief dryness from the tea note, rounded by raisins and chocolate
