This Tomatin is part of the Portuguese Collection, a limited edition showing the influence of Portuguese wine casks, bottled at 46% abv. It was distilled on 8 September 2006 and spent eight years in traditional Scotch whisky oak casks. On 23 April 2015 it was moved into Madeira wine casks for a further seven years.
The nose is soft vanilla and honey with fresh lemon zest and delicate tropical fruit. The palate is sweet, with butterscotch, stewed apple and baking spices, and more fruit emerges after a few minutes in the glass. The finish is long and gently tart and fruity, with a hint of butterscotch caramel.
