This is a 30 year old single malt from Tomintoul, distilled in 1995 and matured in a single first-fill Oloroso sherry butt, cask #6. Signatory Vintage bottled it in 2025 for the Symington's Choice range, at a natural cask strength of 50.7%, in a 70cl bottle. The cask gave 565 bottles, without added colour or chill filtration.
Three decades in active sherry wood have made the usually delicate Speyside character of Tomintoul richer and more mature.
The nose brings dried figs, raisins, orange peel, old leather and dark honey. On the palate come toffee, roasted hazelnuts, dark chocolate and baking spices. The finish is long and warming, with oak spice, cocoa and gentle rancio.
