This is a single cask Tomintoul from the 1999 vintage, a 22 year old Speyside single malt matured in an Oloroso sherry cask (cask #6). It is bottled at 55.1% ABV and is one of 635 bottles, each of 70cl.
Tomintoul was established in 1964 in the Cairngorms National Park, and its whisky is mainly aged in American ex-bourbon casks. This release comes from a single sherry cask.
The nose is bold and nutty, with fruit cake, rum and raisin ice cream, treacle, dried fruits and nutmeg. The palate brings maple pecan pie, festive spices, dates and figs with allspice and ginger biscuits. The finish has oat and raisin cookies and Oloroso sherry, fading to walnut and sultana.
