This is a 19 year old Speyside single malt from Tomintoul, distilled in 2000 and drawn from a single port pipe, cask number 1. It was bottled at 57% in a 70cl bottle, and the cask yielded 753 bottles.
The port pipe is said to bring out more tobacco and leathery wood notes in the whisky.
The nose is plummy and sweet over creamy toffee malt, with a hint of summer fruits. On the palate, raisins join plums and summer fruits, backed by pepper and cumin. The finish is lingering, balancing sweetness and spice.
