A 31 year old single cask malt from Tomintoul, distilled in 1973 and bottled in 2004 by Murray McDavid as part of its Mission series. This bottle is signed by Jim McEwan and is bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The whisky matured in a bourbon cask.
The nose opens with wild heather, bracken and fern, a little drying peat and Highland spice, then blackberry, hawthorn and redcurrant, with the oak staying in the background. On the palate, spicy sweet fruit and heather flavours emerge slowly behind the initial heat of the spirit, followed by bitter chocolate and smoky twigs.
