A small batch Speyside single malt from Tomintoul, created by master distiller Robert Fleming. He selected Tomintoul aged in ex-bourbon American oak barrels, then married it and finished it in Tawny Port barriques from Portugal. It is bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The distillery stands on the River Avon and was built in 1965. It takes its name from the nearby village, the highest in Scotland.
The nose has berry fruits, bramble jam, dark chocolate, nutmeg and cherry liqueur. The palate brings blackcurrants, blueberries and Black Forest gateau with oak spices and mocha coffee. The finish is maraschino cherries and thick-cut marmalade, fading to clove and cinnamon.
