Torabhaig – Cnoc na Moine The Legacy Series Chapter 3 (70cl, 46%)

Cnoc na Moine is the third release in the Torabhaig Legacy Series, from the distillery on the Isle of Skye. It is a single malt in a 70cl bottle at 46% ABV. It is the first Torabhaig to use some ex-sherry casks. The malt was made from heavily peated barley at 78 ppm, then matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks together with ex-Oloroso and ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. It is bottled non-chill-filtered and with natural colour. The nose is of muted peat smoke, orange peel and spiced fruit, with vanilla and freshly sawn oak. The palate brings barbecue notes, pepper and a balsamic sharpness, then cedar and leather. The finish carries sherry with peat and spice in balance.
