Torabhaig – Iona Unpeated First Edition The Distillers' Series (70cl, 60.9%)

This is a cask strength single malt from Torabhaig on Skye, bottled at 60.9%. It is the first Iona edition in the Distillers' Series, the distillery's experimental range, where the people who run the distillery try out new ideas, flavours and techniques. It is made from unpeated malt with 10% chocolate malt, and matured in first-fill bourbon casks and a refill sherry cask. The nose is soft, with vanilla sweetness, creamy cocoa butter, dark chocolate and malted grain. The palate is warming, led by clove and a cool touch of peppermint, with caramel, toffee, redcurrants and raisins. The finish is long, with ginger, pepper and cinnamon softened by returning vanilla.
