Cnoc Na Mòine is the third chapter in Torabhaig's Legacy Series, a heavily peated single malt from the Isle of Skye, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The name means 'hill of peat', and the hill lies in Knoydart, across the Sound of Sleat from the distillery.
It matured in bourbon, American oak oloroso and Pedro Ximenez casks. The sherry casks give a sweeter, richer flavour and a darker colour.
The nose has slightly subdued peat smoke with orange peel, tangy fruit, a whiff of dying embers, vanilla sweetness and freshly sawn oaky spice. The palate adds a barbecue note, pepper, light balsamic acidity, cedar and leather, with depth from the sherry casks.
