The fourth chapter in Torabhaig's Legacy Series, released in a Batch Strength edition at 60.2% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The distillery sits on the shore of the Sound of Sleat, the narrow channel between Skye and the mainland.
It is made from Concerto and Laureate barley, fermented for 72 hours with Pinnacle MG+ yeast, and peated to over 78PPM. Maturation was in American oak: first-fill bourbon, refill bourbon and virgin toasted oak. It is non-chill filtered and free from colouring.
The nose has peat smoke, brine and sweet oak spice, with tobacco, orange barley sugar, apricot and seaweed. The palate is zesty with oak spice, bonfire embers and a waxy mouthfeel, and the finish is long, smoky and spiced.
