Torabhaig – Legacy Series: Sound of Sleat Batch Strength (70cl, 60.2%)

Torabhaig Sound of Sleat is the fourth chapter in the distillery's Legacy Series, a peated Skye single malt bottled at batch strength, 60.2% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. It is named after the sea behind the distillery. The malted barley is peated to over 78PPM, with 19PPM in the glass. After a 72-hour fermentation in wooden washbacks and double distillation, the spirit matured for 5-6 years in American oak: 75% first-fill bourbon, 20% virgin oak and 5% refill bourbon. Coastal smoke, brine and toasted oak lead the nose, giving way to orange barley sugar, spice and seaweed. The finish is long, with lingering warmth.
