Torabhaig Sound of Sleat is the fourth chapter of the Legacy Series from the Torabhaig distillery on the Isle of Skye. It is a heavily peated single malt, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, made from Concerto and Laureate barley malted to 78+ ppm.
The whisky matured entirely in American oak, in a mix of new and refill bourbon casks. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour, with 45,000 bottles released. The label artwork is by Ellis O'Connor, an artist who lives on Skye.
The nose brings orange zest, apricot, popcorn and seaweed, with tobacco pipe, honey and vanilla. On the palate come lively oak spice, sweet peat smoke, wax, honey, salt and seaweed. The finish is long, with honey and a touch of white pepper.
