Torabhaig – Taigh (70cl, 46%)

Torabhaig Taigh is a single malt from the young Skye distillery, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is the distillery's first standard release and sets out its house style, following the earlier limited Legacy Series bottlings. The style is described as Smoke with Taste: gentle, elegantly integrated peat smoke with a nod to the rugged coastal surroundings, rather than a heavy peat blow. Taigh means house or home in Scottish Gaelic. Most of the casks are first-fill ex-bourbon, joined by refill bourbon casks, with a small share of ex-Madeira casks adding a soft, round texture. The nose offers salty bonfire smoke, earthy woodland notes, baked apple pie with raisins, cinnamon and clove. The palate is medium-bodied and oily, with mellow peat smoke, vanilla, dried fruit and toasted almonds. The finish is long and warming, with toasted oak, spicy clove and lingering sweet smoke.
