Torabhaig – Taigh (70cl, 46%)

Taigh is the first core expression from Torabhaig, a single malt from the Isle of Skye bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is made from a gently peated spirit in the distillery's 'Smoke with Taste' style, and is bottled without chill-filtration or colouring. It is matured in first fill bourbon barrels, refill bourbon casks and select Madeira casks. The first fill bourbon brings vanilla, sweet spice and honey, the refill casks let the distillery character come through, and the Madeira adds a rounded fruit sweetness. The nose has seaside embers, flint smoke, baked apple and maple syrup. The palate is light to medium-bodied and oily, with vanilla custard, toasted almond and dried fruit. The finish is warm, with cinnamon, clove and lingering smoke.
