Torabhaig – Taigh (70cl, 46%)

Taigh is the first core range expression from Torabhaig, the distillery on the Isle of Skye. The name means 'house', and the whisky is built around a house style of subtle, elegant peat. The label and packaging were designed by local artist Aileen Grant. This peated single malt was matured in bourbon, Madeira and refill bourbon casks. It is bottled at 46%, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The nose brings soft seaside embers and flint smoke with baked apple, maple syrup and gentle spice. The palate is lightly oily, with vanilla custard, toasted almond and sweet dried fruits, and the finish is warm and lingering with cinnamon and clove.
