Torabhaig – The Distillers' Series Iona's First Edition

A single malt from Torabhaig, the Isle of Skye distillery, and part of its Distillers' Series. Each year two of the distillery's distillers take control for a month, and this first edition was made by Iona. Iona based her whisky on chocolate malt, a full-bodied, slightly bitter malt she first came across at the Crisp maltings in Portgordon. She tasted the chocolate character coming through the still after only 15 minutes, and adjusted her timings to capture its deepest, fullest flavours. The nose is soft and inviting, with vanilla sweetness and creamy cocoa butter, dark chocolate and malted grain. The palate brings clove and cool mint, caramel, toffee, red currants and raisins.
