Torabhaig – The Distillers' Series Niall's First Edition

Niall's First Edition is a single malt from Torabhaig, the Isle of Skye distillery, and part of its Distillers' Series. In this series, two of the distillery's nine distillers take over production for a month each year. This bottling was created by distiller Niall Culbertson and draws on his childhood memories of boat trips in the bay. He aimed for a bright, coastal whisky with a maritime character, using brown malt and dark crystal malt on a lightly peated base malt. Part of the maturation took place in ex-rum casks. The nose is led by tropical fruit, with a sweet, lightly smoky note of a beach bonfire. The palate opens with juicy orange and adds sea salt and brine.
