Torabhaig – The Legacy Series Cnoc na Mòine (70cl, 46%)

Cnoc na Mòine is the third chapter in the Torabhaig Legacy Series from the distillery at Teangue, on the Isle of Skye. It is the first release in the series to bring sherry casks into the mix, alongside ex-bourbon casks of American oak, Oloroso casks and Pedro Ximénez casks. The malt is heavily peated, at 78.4 ppm phenols in the barley and 19.7 ppm in the bottled whisky. It is bottled at 46%, without chill-filtration or added colouring. The nose offers gentle peat smoke, citrus zest, lively fruit, fine embers, vanilla and freshly cut oak. On the palate the smoke turns slightly barbecued, with black pepper, a light balsamic freshness, cedar and leather. The finish carries light sherry notes, balanced with peat and spice.
