Tormore – 16 Year Old Sherry Cask

This 16 year old Speyside single malt belongs to the first core range from Tormore, launched in 2022 under Elixir Distillers, who took over as custodians of the distillery that year. Before then, most of its whisky went into blends. It was matured in a mix of cream sherry and Oloroso sherry casks: French oak Oloroso butts for darker, nuttier spice, and American oak cream sherry casks for sweetness. The aim is to bring out Tormore's fruity, blueberry-jam character alongside the sherry. The nose has Christmas cake and soft baking spices, with subtle oak and a hint of citrus. On the palate come sticky dates, demerara fudge, ripe blueberry and vanilla. The finish is warm and lingering, with spiced fruit and gentle oak.
