Tormore – Blueprint Toasted Barrels 10 Year Old

This is a 10-year-old single malt from Tormore, a Speyside distillery founded in 1958. It was matured in toasted barrels, which are casks heated further so the wood gives up more flavour to the spirit. The result is a warming, spicy and lightly toasted character alongside the fruitiness of the distillery. The nose opens with dried fruit, apple and pear, then toasted vanilla, caramel and nuts, with cinnamon and clove. On the palate there is caramelised sugar, toasted almonds and honey, with ripe peach, citrus, a little chocolate and light smoke. The finish is long and warming.
