Vecchia Romagna Riserva 18 Brandy (70cl)

An Italian brandy from Gruppo Montenegro, made from a blend of distillates aged for 18 years in oak casks. It is then refined in casks that once held Amarone della Valpolicella, which adds to the winey character of the brandy. The colour is dark amber with bright mahogany reflections. On the nose come spirit-soaked fruit, walnuts, almonds, dried figs, cinnamon and clove, with toasted wood, a hint of chocolate and tobacco leaf. The palate is soft and intense, with the familiar vinous note of brandy made firmer by ageing. The finish is long and aromatic. It suits sipping slowly, alone or with dried fruit and nuts.
