WhistlePig 12 Year Old Old World is a rye whiskey bottled at 86 proof (43%). The blend was aged in new American oak, then finished in Port, French Sauternes and Madeira casks.
The finishing gives the spicy rye character a softer side.
The nose has caramel, vanilla and ripe winter fruits. On the palate come warming rye spice, apricots, dates and honey, and the finish leaves lingering dark chocolate.
