WhistlePig 12 Year Old is a straight rye whiskey from Vermont, bottled at 43% (86 proof) in a 75cl bottle.
After 12 years in new American oak, the whiskey is divided among three barrels: Madeira, Sauternes and Port, in proportions of 63%, 30% and 7%. The finished whiskeys are then blended into one. The expression began as an experiment in finishing rye in this way.
