WhistlePig – 18 Year Old Double Malt Rye 4th Edition

This is an 18 year old rye whiskey, the fourth annual edition of WhistlePig's Double Malt Rye. It is finished in Spanish PX sherry casks. The mash bill is 79% rye, 15% malted rye and 6% malted barley, a nod to early American farmers who malted a small part of their grain to start fermentation. The rye is said to bring peppery spice, the malted rye a floral, earthy note, and the malted barley sweet, toasted character. Each edition is topped with a glass stopper handmade in Vermont.
