WhistlePig Boss Hog XIII 'The Golden Pharaoh' is a single-barrel straight rye whiskey in a 75cl bottle, the thirteenth edition of WhistlePig's annual Boss Hog collector release. It starts in new American oak and is finished in barrels seasoned with Egyptian black honey and tiger nut. It is bottled at barrel proof, between 51.3% and 52.5% depending on the barrel.
The design draws on ancient Egypt, with a pewter pharaoh topper etched with hieroglyphics and a collector box that opens like a sealed tomb.
The nose is brown sugar, cinnamon, toasted almond and warm spice. The palate brings molasses, light honey, baking spice and black pepper, and the finish is soft toasted almond and brown sugar oatmeal with lingering spice.
