WhistlePig PiggyBack is a six-year-old rye made from a 100% rye mash bill, in a 75cl bottle. Master Distiller Dave Pickerell designed it for bartenders.
It is bottled at 96.56 proof (48.28% ABV), a strength chosen so that it holds its own in a cocktail without overpowering the spicy character of the whiskey.
The nose is spicy and bright, with black pepper, cinnamon, dark chocolate and citrus peel. The palate is bold and spice-forward, with peppery rye and clove softened by caramel, toasted oak and vanilla cream. The finish is long, crisp and spicy, with a dry heat.
