WhistlePig PiggyBank Rye Gold Edition is a 10 year old straight rye made from 100% rye, bottled at 55% (110 proof) in a 1 litre gold finished pig decanter. It was the 2024 holiday release from WhistlePig in Shoreham, Vermont.
The decanter is modelled on the 19th century Berkshire Bitter Pig and is hand wax sealed. The whiskey pours from the rear of the pig, and a coin slot lets it serve as a piggy bank once empty.
The nose has dried cedar, nutmeg, cinnamon and candied ginger over soft sweetness. The palate leads with vanilla and butterscotch, then crushed black peppercorns, baked rye bread and caramel. The finish is long and warming, with toasted spice, oak tannin and a clean rye fade.
