WhistlePig 'The Béhôlden' is a 21-year-old single malt, bottled at 46% in a 75cl bottle. It is the oldest whiskey WhistlePig has released, and a departure from the brand's rye.
It was distilled from 100% malted barley at Glenora Distillery in Nova Scotia, Canada, and aged for 21 years in American oak ex-bourbon barrels. It then spent four weeks in WhistlePig rye barrels before bottling in Shoreham, Vermont. It was released in spring 2023 from 18 single barrels.
The nose is maple syrup, caramel, baked red apple and stone fruit with cinnamon, nutmeg and rye spice. The palate is sweet and creamy, with apricot, black cherry and mint, and the medium finish carries black cherry, clove and a hint of tobacco.
