WhistlePig The Boss Hog IV, The Black Prince, is the fourth edition in the Boss Hog series from the Vermont distillery, a rye whiskey in a 75cl bottle. It is presented as a tribute to the great spirits of Europe.
This is a rye finished in Armagnac casks from France, the first rye whiskey to be given that finish, and it sets out to balance American power with French refinement.
The nose has apricot, fig and plum alongside Armagnac-accented oak. The palate brings apricot, clove and cinnamon, with hints of citrus and black tea. The finish carries toasted marshmallow, burnt sugar and dried fruit.
