White Oak Akashi is a blended Japanese whisky from the Eigashima Shuzo distillery in Akashi, Hyogo Prefecture, bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is made by a Toji, a master of sake brewing, who brings sake-making methods to the whisky. The blend uses 70% corn and 30% lightly peated Scottish malt, distilled in a lantern-shaped copper pot still. It is aged mainly in ex-bourbon barrels and finished in sherry casks. Black cherry and vanilla come first on the nose, with toasted malt, roasted nuts and a light sea air. The palate offers vanilla, pine nut, yellow apple and toffee. The finish is medium, malty, with a little peat smoke and a marshmallow-like sweetness.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
