A single barrel Kentucky straight rye from Wilderness Trail Distillery in Danville, bottled at barrel proof without being reduced: 55% (110 proof), unfiltered. The barrel number, 16C21L, is printed on the front label.
The mash bill is 56% rye, 33% corn and 11% malted barley, fermented as a sweet mash. The whiskey went into new #4 char barrels at 100 to 105 proof.
The nose is sweet baking spice over oak and dark fruit. On the palate, clove and white pepper give way to candied flowers, spearmint and Earl Grey tea, and the finish is long and floral.
