Wilderness Trail – Single Barrel Rye

This is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey from Wilderness Trail, released at cask strength. It is made from a three-grain mash of 56 percent rye, 33 percent corn and 11 percent malted barley, using Kentucky-grown Heritage rye. The sweet mash is distilled in column stills and enters new, air-dried, number 4 char 53-gallon barrels at either 100 or 105 proof, which is why the strength of cask strength releases varies. The rye matures on the upper floors of the rickhouses for a minimum of four years.
