This is a single-barrel Washington straight bourbon from Woodinville, bottled for the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as B8.1, Last-Minute Thriller. It is a five-year-old from a single new American oak charred barrel, and one of 217 bottles. It is described as the first Woodinville edition.
The nose is fruity, with red cherries, strawberry laces, banana bread, cinnamon buns and vanilla cookie dough. On the palate a spicy tingle of cayenne comes with pineapple sweets, marmalade and liquorice, and water brings out oak and vanilla. Stewed gooseberries and rhubarb, coconut crumble and sweet earl grey tea follow.
