Wright & Brown Rye is a pot-stilled rye from Oakland, California, in a 75cl bottle at 45% ABV (90 proof). It is made from malted rye and barley with no corn, in the style of the old Monongahela whiskeys, and matured in new American white oak with a medium char. It is bottled without chill filtration and with no colouring added.
The rye is an organic heirloom variety grown in Humboldt County. First released in 2016, it has a chewy, floral and grassy character.
The nose shows crème brûlée, dark chocolate, plum jam and pepper. The palate is full, with nutmeg, clove, malt, dates and vanilla, and a smoky, fennel-tinged edge.
