Yamazaki 18 Mizunara is a Japanese single malt from the 2024 Tsukuriwake collection, a limited edition bottled at 48% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It was matured exclusively in Mizunara oak casks.
The long maturation in Mizunara gives spiciness and notes of sandalwood and aloe, alongside dried fruits, incense and coconut.
The nose has a gentle veil of smoke and a delicate biscuit note, with Islay peat running through Yamazaki's characteristic sweetness. The palate is silky and sweet like brown sugar, opening to bright bitter orange. The finish is warm and softly smoky, with caramel-like sweetness fading to bitter orange.
