Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve is a Japanese single malt in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV, in a red box. It was first released in spring 2014 and is one of two Distiller's Reserve single malts from Suntory.
The character is red fruit with a touch of sherry cask. Some mizunara (Japanese oak) matured whisky is included, adding a spicy, almost incense-like note.
The nose has strawberries, dried fruits, floral notes, sandalwood and perhaps coconut. On the palate, dried berries and a little raspberry sit with light oak, white peach and some spice. The finish is long, with vanilla and sweet cinnamon.
