Zuidam – Millstone 100 Single Rye Whisky (50%)

Millstone 100 is a Dutch single rye from Zuidam Distillers, and almost everything about it comes back to the number 100. It is made from 100% rye, distilled entirely in small copper pot stills, and matured for 100 months in 100% new American oak. It was bottled at 100 proof, which is 50% ABV. The nose is of orange blossom, roasted lemon and a little thyme, with brown sugar sweetness behind. On the palate there is more lemon, now with pine and spicy cardamom, and perhaps a hint of Fino. The finish brings waxy fruit and another touch of cardamom.
