1792 Sweet Wheat is a Kentucky straight bourbon made at the Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown. It is a limited edition, bottled at 45.6% in a 75cl bottle. Wheat takes the place of the rye commonly used in bourbon recipes, giving a softer, more rounded flavour with a balance of sweetness and dryness. Vanilla, caramel and dried fruit sit alongside subtle white oak tannins. On the nose, sweet vanilla and caramel come with hints of dried fruit and oak. The palate is smooth and well balanced, with caramel sweetness, delicate fruit and gentle oak tannins. The finish is soft and lingering.
