This is an Aberlour 10 Year Old Highland malt from the 1990s, in a metal box. The colour is pure gold.
The nose opens with tropical fruit, including mango, passion fruit and guava, then eucalyptus, camphor, beeswax and wood polish, with hints of sherry, walnuts and hot caramel.
The palate is peppery and strong, a little sharp, with herbal tea, burnt bread, black toffee, crème caramel and Irish coffee. The finish is rather long, creamy and heathery.
