Aberlour – 12 Year Old Double Cask Matured (70cl, 40%)

This is a 12 year old Speyside single malt from Aberlour, matured in two types of cask: traditional oak and seasoned sherry butts. The spirits from both are combined. It is bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. The distillery describes a crisp, citrus character in its new distillate, softened by the double cask maturation. The colour is golden amber with hints of ruby. The nose is soft and rounded, with red apple. On the palate there is a sherried character, with fruit balanced by rich chocolate. The finish is warm and lingering, sweet and spicy.
