Aberlour 12 Year Old Double Cask is a Speyside single malt bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. Part of the whisky matures in ex-bourbon casks and part in ex-sherry casks, each for the same time, before the two are brought together. This is a parallel maturation rather than a short second finish.
The malt is unpeated, with fruity character, a marked sherry influence and spicy accents.
The nose is mild and fruity, with apple. The palate is soft and velvety, with sherry alongside chocolate, coffee beans, cinnamon and ginger. The finish is long, leaving sweet and spicy impressions.
