Aberlour 12 Years Old Double Cask is a Speyside single malt matured in two kinds of cask: American oak that previously held bourbon, and casks that previously held sherry. It comes in a 70cl bottle at 40% ABV.
The double maturation brings out dried fruit and traditional Christmas spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg and clove, in a fruity, sweet style.
On the nose, raisins and toasted cinnamon sit alongside glazed cherries. The palate opens sweet with honey, brown sugar, figs and milk chocolate, and the finish is medium, with chocolate, raisins and a little charcoal.
